Rev. Chris Stebbing
Born in Whitby and brought up in Scarborough, I became a Christian in a dramatic way whilst at University.
I worked as an Engineer for Vickers at Barrow, building nuclear submarines, and was involved in Youth work in a local Church there. With peace breaking out all over the world in the early 90s I moved with my young family to Sheffield to work in another engineering company. Later I felt God’s call to ministry, and trained at Durham before becoming curate at St. Polycarp’s Malin Bridge. For eight years I was the vicar at St. John’s Church in the Park and Wybourn area of Sheffield before coming to be the vicar/minister of St. Luke’s in March 2012.
One of the things I like most about my ‘job’ is the huge variety of things I do – planning and leading services, talking about Christianity in schools, supporting people on a one-to-one basis. Many of the organisational skills learnt in industry are surprisingly useful in running a busy, active Church too! If you’d like to know about what Christianity or St Luke’s in particular can do for you, then do get in touch.
Rev. Tracey Morris
Rev Tracey has been curate at St. Luke’s since her Ordination in 2019
I was born in Coventry and moved to Sheffield in 2000 after graduating from Bradford University with a degree in Electronic Imaging and Media Communication. I spent 9 years working as an Information Officer at South Yorkshire Probation and 2 years volunteering for St Thomas Crookes Church. I also spent two years volunteering for a Church Army project supporting women who work on the streets. For the past five years I have been studying at St Hild college in Sheffield and Mirfield where I gained a BA and Postgraduate Certificate in Theology, Ministry and Mission, as well as completing ordination training for the Church of England. I then took a year out before ordination to go to Canada for a year. My husband Paul is a cardiology doctor and we have one daughter called Grace.
Rev. Godfrey Smallman
Rev Godfrey has been curate at St. Luke’s since his Ordination in 2019
After reading law at Oxford University, Godfrey came to Sheffield to serve what was then known as his articles with a local law firm, in order to qualify as a solicitor. At a colleague’s wedding during his training period, he sat next to a young teacher called Helen…they have been married for 33 years and counting! On marrying, they settled in Sheffield and have lived here ever since. Their now grown up children live away.
Godfrey retired as a solicitor at the end of July 2019 after 4 decades in the law. He was ordained deacon at that time, and has been serving his curacy with us at St. Luke’s on a part time basis since October that year. Godfrey has a particular calling to work with older folk.
Hi! I joined St Luke’s Church in January 2011 after eight years as Youth Minister at St Chad’s Church in Woodseats, Sheffield.
In 2005 I graduated with a degree in youth work and I married Michelle, with whom I have three children.
I coordinate a variety of the Altitude groups & activities, from weekly Bible studies & youth clubs, to special one-off events & residentials for young people both on a Sunday and throughout the week.
Gift Aid Secretary
I joined St Luke’s in January 2011 with my husband Andrew (Youth Worker) and our three children Jacob, Abby and Noah.
In my role as Administrator I assist staff and church members with various organisational tasks and am normally the first point of contact for anybody ringing or visiting the church centre. If you have any queries about St Luke’s then please get in contact and I’ll do my best to help.
Church Premises Booking Secretary
I have worshipped at St Luke’s since moving back to Sheffield in September 1971.
I have been Bookings Secretary for the Premises since 1994. I am very happy to discuss the availability of the Premises and to show prospective hirers round.
