Born in Whitby and brought up in Scarborough, I became a Christian in a dramatic way whilst at University.
I worked as an Engineer for Vickers at Barrow, building nuclear submarines, and was involved in Youth work in a local Church there. With peace breaking out all over the world in the early 90s I moved with my young family to Sheffield to work in another engineering company. Later I felt God’s call to ministry, and trained at Durham before becoming curate at St. Polycarp’s Malin Bridge. For eight years I was the vicar at St. John’s Church in the Park and Wybourn area of Sheffield before coming to be the vicar/minister of St. Luke’s in March 2012.
One of the things I like most about my ‘job’ is the huge variety of things I do – planning and leading services, talking about Christianity in schools, supporting people on a one-to-one basis. Many of the organisational skills learnt in industry are surprisingly useful in running a busy, active Church too! If you’d like to know about what Christianity or St Luke’s in particular can do for you, then do get in touch.
